Successful Equipment Handover Ceremony and Launch of IBIKA Youth Zone
Beyond Zero is proud to announce the successful equipment handover ceremony and the official launch of the IBIKA Youth Zone, a significant milestone in our commitment to the Bumb’INGOMSO (BI) programme. This comprehensive HIV prevention project focuses on adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) aged 15-29 in the Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality and selected areas of the Amathole District Municipality in the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa.
Bumb’INGOMSO (BI) aims to substantially reduce the incidence of HIV/AIDS among AGYW. The project is part of our broader mission to improve health outcomes and empower young women through targeted interventions and support.
In collaboration with the Provincial Government of the Eastern Cape, Beyond Zero has successfully conducted the official handover of essential equipment, including 630 chairs, 63 service boards, and 63 WIFI routers. These resources will support the Youth Zone in 63 facilities across Buffalo City Municipality and Amathole District Municipality, enhancing the infrastructure and accessibility of services for young people.
The noteworthy event took place on Friday, November 17, 2023, at the IBIKA facility, marking the official launch of the IBIKA Youth Zone. The event garnered significant attention, with 500 attendees, including youth, stakeholders, Department of Health representatives, and service delivery partners. The IBIKA facility introduced its Youth Zone and its activities to beneficiaries, parents, caregivers, stakeholders, and the community at large.
The ceremony facilitated meaningful collaboration between Beyond Zero and key health leaders, including the Deputy Minister of Health, Dr. Sibongiseni Dhlomo, and the Honourable MEC of Health, Nomakhosazana Meth. Their presence and support underscore the importance of this initiative in our ongoing efforts to combat HIV/AIDS and support the well-being of AGYW.
As we continue to work together, we remain committed to our mission of providing comprehensive health interventions and support to those who need it most. Let us continue to work together in our mission to empower and uplift communities.
